Ron has a number of beautiful warbirds in his collection, including this one. We'd worked with him before on his digital-camo Albatros L-39, so it was only natural he reach out to us when it was time to restore his A model Mentor.
This project was a complete overhaul, and we wanted to do it due justice in the paint department. We kept the majority of the scheme true to the time period in which the aircraft was active in the military, though a few things were altered or added to give it more flair. Some of the alterations included a darker yellow base coat, as well as additional markings such as the invasion stripes.
This aircraft was painted at our facility, Evoke Aviation, letting us get hands on and ensure there were no paint lines left anywhere on this remarkable bird. Regardless, this aircraft turned out beautifully, and even earned us the, "Keep Em' Flying Golden Wrench Award" at Oshkosh 2018.
