Vans RV-8 N82WW Custom Paint Scheme

Evoke Aircraft Design plane scheme designers Vans RV-8
When I was looking for a good paint shop to paint my newly built RV-8, I was referred to Jonathan down at the Gadsden, AL airport. At my home airport, there are 2 planes that were designed by Jonathan and his team and I was impressed by those paint jobs. I took my RV-8 down to Jonathan for him to look it over, and at the same time I had the chance to explore his shop. Needless to say, I was impressed. The hard part was finalizing the paint scheme for his guys to prep for and then shoot paint. I gave Jonathan a picture of my old 1960s era family Navion and its paint scheme as the template for the RV-8. Jonathan took that picture, and through a few iterations, he and his team designed a scheme that kept the theme of the Navion while adapting it to the lines of the RV-8. I was extremely pleased with his final rendering. The icing on the cake was when Jonathan and his shop actually painted the RV-8. The final result exceeded my wildest expectations! The plane is absolutely gorgeous. When people see it for the first time, they are in awe at the quality of the finish and then I tell them, ‘it now doesn’t look like I built it!’

AIRCRAFT: Vans RV-8 N82WW

PAINTED BY: Evoke Aviation

John Miller started this build in 2012 with a friend who wanted some building experience. John reached out to us to adapt and refine the scheme of his family's old Navion for the RV-8. With just a few tweaks, we were able to recreate that scheme for the aircraft, as well as bring it to life in our paint facility.

We think John's aircraft came out looking fantastic! Don't just take our word for it, either. You can find an article about John's RV-8 in the December, 2018 issue of EAA's Sport Aviation Magazine! (December, 2018 Issue, pg.97)
