Van's RV-10 N662F Custom Paint Scheme
Bruce Lane's RV-10 is a testament to the idea that great design evolves. Inspired by the RV-14 we had the pleasure of designing and painting for Bruce previously, this new scheme carries familiar elements forward while adapting them to the larger, more commanding lines of the RV-10. Finished in Evoke's signature metallic blue with silver and black accents, the aircraft strikes a perfect balance between timeless styling and modern refinement.
From the outset, the goal was to create a paint scheme that felt like a natural successor rather than a duplicate. The clean, flowing lines complement the RV-10's proportions while preserving the unmistakable personality of Bruce's original aircraft. The result is a design that feels cohesive across both airplanes, giving them a shared identity while allowing each to stand confidently on its own.
Closer inspection reveals a number of thoughtful details that make the scheme uniquely Bruce's. Subtle checkerboard patterns are incorporated into the flaps, elevators, and rudder, adding texture without overwhelming the design. The aircraft proudly wears its name, Pippy III, along the forward fuselage, while a vibrant orange Van's Aircraft logo on the vertical stabilizer provides a bold pop of color that perfectly contrasts the cool blue, silver, and black palette.
Sometimes the most memorable paint schemes aren't the busiest, but the ones that get every detail exactly right. Bruce's RV-10 embraces that philosophy with clean lines, balanced proportions, and understated accents that will look just as elegant years from now as they do today. It was a pleasure working with Bruce once again, and we're honored to have helped continue the story of an aircraft family that is as recognizable as it is beautifully executed.
