Van's RV-10 N823CW Custom Paint Scheme
Chris Welveart's RV-10 is a bold expression of speed, precision, and modern aircraft design. Finished in bright red, silver, and metallic charcoal, the scheme uses aggressive, jagged lines that flow from nose to tail, creating the illusion of constant motion even while sitting on the ramp. Strategic carbon fiber striping adds both texture and depth, giving the aircraft a contemporary, performance-inspired look that perfectly complements the sleek lines of Van's popular four-place cruiser.
Throughout the design process, Chris wanted a paint scheme that felt unmistakably fast without becoming overly complicated. The result is a clean, high-impact layout that balances sharp geometry with thoughtful restraint. The metallic charcoal provides a strong foundation while the bright red commands attention, and the silver accents tie everything together to create a finish that changes character as it catches the light from different angles.
One of the defining elements of the design is its confident use of angular shapes. Rather than relying on sweeping curves, the crisp transitions and pointed striping emphasize the RV-10's performance heritage while maintaining an elegant, professional appearance. Carbon fiber details woven into the design provide a subtle nod to modern aviation materials and performance engineering without overpowering the overall composition.
It was a pleasure collaborating with Chris to bring his vision to life. Seeing the finished aircraft come together in paint was a rewarding experience for our entire team, and we hope his RV-10 turns heads wherever it lands for many years to come.
