Van's RV-7 N1721S Custom Paint Scheme
Kyle Lobpries’ RV-7 is a true patriot’s preferred mode of transportation. Kyle’s plane has a geometric eagle sprawled across the fuselage and its angular wings across the… well, the wings. This paint scheme also sports matte black accents: a spartan helmet on the top cowling, “Molon Labe” and a Texas star on the belly, and the stars and bars on the side of the fuselage to commemorate Kyle’s time in the USMC.
In working back and forth with our design team, Kyle wanted to keep some inspiration from the original paint scheme, but make it “new”. This plane would be the one his son will fly in as he gets older, and so Kyle wanted a nice homage to the original builder to truly tribute to the plane’s history — and it’s future.
Kyle was generous enough to gift two flights to our paint crew who worked on the plane, and one sporting some aerobatic manuevers with smoke making a truly gorgeous photoshoot in the afternoon sun.
It was a pleasure working with Kyle on his project, and hope to see it on display at Oshkosh in 2026!
