Van's RV-7 N742US Custom Paint Scheme
Some aircraft carry more than a pilot. They carry a story, a dream, and the memory of the person who brought them to life. “Blair Force 1,” Sean Blair’s RV-7, is one of those aircraft.
Sean and his wife, Tracey, endured a long and difficult journey to complete N742US. After two earlier building attempts, including the loss of a fuselage kit when a wildfire destroyed their neighborhood, Sean began again. The RV-7 finally made its first flight in August 2023, fulfilling a dream that had been decades in the making. Sadly, Sean passed away unexpectedly while the aircraft was at Evoke Aviation, only weeks before its paint was finished.
The completed scheme is both strong and refined. Metallic silver and charcoal form the foundation, accented by a vivid solid blue that travels from the cowling to the tail. Airbrushed carbon-fiber elements add depth and technical detail, while the sharp, layered design gives the aircraft a powerful sense of motion. Every element comes together to create an airplane worthy of the name “Blair Force 1.”
Although Sean never had the opportunity to see his RV-7 completed, his family and friends made sure his dream continued. It was an incredible honor for our team to finish this aircraft and play a small part in carrying Sean’s memory forward. “Blair Force 1” is more than a beautifully finished RV-7. It is a tribute to Sean’s perseverance, his passion for aviation, and a dream that refused to be left unfinished.
